ENERGY COOPERATION OF RUSSIA WITH THE COUNTRIES OF THE ASIAN-PACIFIC REGION

Background. Events at the international arena in recent years increasingly show the dependence of foreign policy on the economic interests of our country. In this regard, the issue of studying approaches to ensuring Russia’s energy security is particularly relevant. The aim of the study is to systematize and analyze historical research on the formation of the foundations of modern energy diplomacy.
Materials and methods. The article analyzes the works of modern historians devoted to the study of energy cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region (APR). Analysis of state diplomacy, or rather the energy aspect of the diplomatic line, is seen by the author possible only with the help of a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach combining historical, political and philosophical methods and techniques.
Results. At the end of the XX – beginning of the XXI centuries there were complex works devoted both to common problems of foreign policy relations and separate articles considering the history of development of energy cooperation of Russia with the Asia-Pacific countries. But a comprehensive study covering the Eastern vector of Russian energy policy has not yet been conducted.
Conclusions. In the domestic scientific literature quite clearly shows the trend of increasing the number of studies on energy security in connection with the increasing importance of this issue in international relations. There are now a significant number of publications on various aspects of energy security in general as well as the approaches of individual States. In the post-Soviet period a number of works were written on a new stage of cooperation between Russia and the Asia-Pacific countries, but at the same time there is a clear lack of research reflecting energy problems of cooperation in this region in historical retrospect.
